Founded in 2008 as a corporate and social-event management company, Palomaya today creates one-of-a-kind artisan-inspired apparel for Latinas. What began as in-house promotional item quickly turned into a business inspired by a brilliant stroke of genius.
A portmanteau, the name Palomaya combines the Spanish word paloma (a dove) - a symbol of freedom and love - with the name Maya. Company founder Lorena Musselman selected Maya in memory of her daughter.
Palomaya's mission is to empower Latinas with the beliefs necessary to change the world through Freedom, Strength and Love. These core beliefs are based on Lorena's guiding values. She notes, "Palomaya was founded to inspire, nurture and celebrate the fusion of the Latino and American cultures, and to share the gifts that I have been fortunate enough to receive along the way - Freedom, Strength and Love.
Palomaya caters to a consumer market largely ignored by other fashion brands. Palomaya is a core-value brand working with several Southern California designers and up-and-coming artists on future designs for T-shirts, casual wear and select novelty items. Palomaya is also developing formalized distribution channels with several retailers.
Thank you so much I really appreciate the time you took to acknowledge my art work. I'm very passionate when it comes art, something that I've been doing for 2& 1/2 yrs now and I can say that art literally save my life. Without going to school for art all the recognition means more to me than you can ever know, I can say it really touches my heart to the core. I get butterflies every time somebody asks me to sign their prints or magnets, lol. I'm so happy that we met and hope we can have a long and happy healthy friendship. Thank you so much for the kind words and hope to see you soon. Con carino, Miranda
